Let the Fun Begin!

After an exhausting day of travel yesterday we woke up this morning at 9:35 and had to rush off to breakfast since it ends at 10:00. Breakfast is served at a restaurant on stilts above the water, extraordinary setting. It's included in our rate and we were very happy to get fresh squeezed fruit juice, cut up fruit and a selection of choices including various egg dishes and bacon. After breakfast we made our plans for the next week and a half. Reservations were made for elephant trekking, Thai cooking school and an all day snorkeling trip. Tomorrow is snorkeling and today Melissa made Julie practice with her new snorkel gear. Julie had said she was an "experienced snorkeler" and this wasn't quite the case. So, no worries now. Practice went well. A+ says Julie. She learned to be still in the water, not snort and spit when she comes up, and keep away from the coral. We can't wait to see all the fish tomorrow. Of course we made a phone call regarding the lost luggage. Still lost. We met a great family from Colorado staying at our resort who gave us the skinny on Cambodia. We may have a volunteer opportunity there building water filters that we are going to research. It all sounds fascinating. We've also been in touch with Julie's Aunt Kristine's and Uncle Martin's friend Kay who lives in Hua Hin. Those of you in Portland may have eaten at one of her restaurants, Sweet Basil. She's since sold them and is back in Thailand. We may visit her after Koh Chang. She's over on the Burma border and from what we've read Hua Hin seems like a great coastal destination. We'll let you know how the snorkeling goes. We miss you all!
